Homeowners: You’ll never have a cold shower again!
In today’s economy, who wouldn’t want a lower utility bill? With a tankless water heater, you can make that happen. Tankless water heaters can save the average household anywhere from 27 to 50 percent on their energy expenses when compared to a traditional tank. Depending on the size of your family, this savings can range between $100 and $260 per year as an average user. In addition to the energy savings, tankless water heaters have a longer lifespan than traditional hot water tanks, and give you access to an unlimited supply of hot water. The compact, wall mounted units free up space that may currently be occupied by an unsightly, bulky, gunmetal grey traditional tank.
I interviewed a homeowner who chose to go tankless over a year ago. The interview went as follows:
You installed a tankless water heater, correct?
Homeowner: Yes, over a year ago.
How do you feel about the unit?
Homeowner: It was the best thing I’ve done for my home.
Really? Why is that?
Homeowner: After that old monstrosity of a tank that came with the house broke and flooded my garage, I was a mess. My neighbor and good friend had been raving about her tankless water heater for some time and since I was due for a replacement, I decided to go tankless.
I’m so sorry about the flood. How long ago did this happen?
Homeowner: Over a year, and I have been happy with my decision ever since.
Why, other than not worrying about walking into a flooded garage, have you been so happy with the unit?
Homeowner: I have seen a significant reduction in my utility bill. Even though the cost of the unit was slightly higher than the traditional tank, I have already offset the initial expense with my savings. Plus, I believe in being energy efficient. The tankless water heater only heats water when I need it so it helps me conserve energy.
